1) Upcoming Short Courses
Eigenvector has a calendar full of courses for the rest of 2000. Our next offering will be a joint course with CAMO, makers of The Unscrambler®. The course will be held in Washington DC and will feature information on how to make PLS_Toolbox and Unscrambler work together. For info, please follow the links from the Eigenvector Home Page.
Tormod Næs will join Barry Wise in Las Vegas to offer "Getting the Most out of Complex Multivariate Data,", Sept. 21-22. The course is held in conjunction with the Fourth International Conference on Environmetrics and Chemometrics.
Rasmus Bro and Neal Gallagher will offer "Applied Multi-way Analysis" in Nashville, TN, just prior to FACSS. This is a great starter course for those dealing 3-D and higher arrays. Don't miss the next big wave in chemometrics!
If you can't make it to "Applied Multi-way Analysis" in Nashville, join Rasmus Bro and Barry Wise at CAC-2000 in Antwerp, Belgium. Click on the "Course" link on the CAC-2000 Home Page.
Eigenvector will also be offering Process Chemometrics at Murdoch University, Rockingham Campus, in Perth, Australia, Nov. 30-Dec. 2. Details will be on our home page as they become available.
Need chemometrics training at your site? Eigenvector has a rapidly expanding curriculum available. Besides our three day process chemometrics course, we also have courses that focus specifically on process monitoring, multi-way analysis, and the development of inferential sensors for use in process control. Write to bmw@eigenvector.com for more information.

2) Eigenvector Associates
Program Launched
Eigenvector welcomes Tormod Næs, Rasmus Bro, Roma Tauler, Klaas Faber and Bruce Kowalski to our Associates Program. This program provides quick and easy access to world-class chemometric experts. The Associates Program allows us to assemble the right team for any chemometrics problem, with consulting, training and software development expertise. Besides their broad chemometric experience, our Associates are all recognized leaders in their areas: Tormod Næs (calibration, classification), Rasmus Bro (Multi-way), Roma Tauler (curve resolution), Klaas Faber (error propagation) and Bruce Kowalski (co-founder of the whole field...what can we say?). If you have a problem that needs Eigenvector's proven ability to work with industrial problems AND the leading experts in the field, we have the team for you!

3) PLS_Toolbox News
The latest update of PLS_Toolbox is 2.0.1f, which was released on March 20, 2000. This update fixes a couple minor bugs. It is compatible with MATLAB versions 5.2 through 5.3.1 (Release 11.1). This is a free upgrade to PLS_Toolbox 2.0 users and can be downloaded from our web site using your assigned username and password. Find out what version you are using by typing 'ver' at the MATLAB prompt. For more information on PLS_Toolbox 2.0, please see the PLS_Toolbox home page.

4) Eigenvector Acquires Distribution
Fitting Toolbox
Eigenvector has purchased the Distribution Fitting Toolbox (DFT) from Texas Environmental Software Solutions (TESS). Originally developed by Cliff Spiegelman and James Hardin, the DFT includes functions for fitting a wide variety of distributions to experimental data, along with tools for determining from what distribution data come. Eigenvector will be making the DFT available upon request. Look for the DFT to be available in about a month. For more information or to request a copy, write to bmw@eigenvector.com.

5) Data Vizualization Toolbox
The Data Visualization Toolbox was developed by Richard Johnson of Datatool.com (richj@datatool.com). It implements the analytical and graphical methods presented in William S. Cleveland's "Visualizing Data." I found out about the toolbox after purchasing Cleveland's great book. Go to Datatool.com to download a copy of the toolbox and view the accompanying tutorial.
